The receptors for the lipid- based hormones is found in the cytoplasm of cells whereas the receptors for the peptide hormone is found in the plasma membrane of the cells. Lipid based hormones diffuse across the plasma membrane of cells thus binding with the receptors proteins present inside the cells of the cytoplasm. Peptide hormones binds with the receptors present on the surface of the cell and by the help of signal transduction cellular response can be achieved in the body .
